| What is robiin.com? |
| Robiin is an online platform created by a young enterprising Valencian, who proposes a sustainable market model for the agricultural sector. Based on offering management openness and a quality product with all the guarantees. |
| |
| Robiin is the only middleman that exists between the producer (farmer) and the final consumer. |
| |
| Our model is feasible thanks to the Internet, which allows us to be more accessible, and to have a more fluent communication with the final customer. The consumers give their opinion about the products, they are informed about the treatments and guarantees of the fruit, about the price they pay, etc... |
| |
| The current distribution model has some problems that put the sector in an unsustainable situation for the farmer: |
1st problem. Management openness: Currently the big orange distribution companies do not allow the final purchaser to know how much the farmer receives. Therefore, these companies control the market with no pressure been put on them, as they always make profit because the risks are for the farmer, who is the one paying for any possible losses during a bad year.
On the contrary, Robiin announces where every Euro the consumer pays is going, providing the sector with that needed openness required for its survival. |
2nd problem. Origin of the product: There are big private companies that are commercializing oranges with the Valencian guarantee of origin, because that sells, but they actually import them from other provinces, and even from other countries as they can acquire them for lower prices, because they are of a lower quality.
Robiin guarantees that the product is genuinely Valencian. We announce the details of the owner of the field where each citrus that we distribute has been picked. The final purchaser will have access to that information through the web.
3rd problem. The product's guarantee: Many of the oranges that are consumed in Spain are sold at small points of sale (greengrocer's, local shops,...) or even by private individuals on the Internet. These products are possibly good, but most of the salesmen who distribute them, cannot legally guarantee that these products have been treated with authorized phytosanitary products.
The products distributed by robiin are supervised by the agricultural technicians that work for the cooperatives, they check that the farmers treat their field with legal products. We have also provided some online tools, so that the farmers can insert the treatments carried out in each field and therefore be able to provide the consumer with that informationn. |
4th problem. Farmer's individuality:In province of Valencia most of the farmers are not associated in any cooperative, which are farmer's associations where they manage their products. It is important, because being united allows them to share expenses and to be more efficient reducing production expenses, such as:
Shared machinery.
Hiring of agricultural technicians to check their cultivation.
Management personnel, etc...
Robiin distributes oranges from agricultural Cooperatives and ships them directly to the client. Therefore the money received by the cooperative goes entirely to the farmers, because they are in charge and they manage the cooperative. Currently the products distributed are from the San Miguel cooperative in Palma de GandÃa, Valencia, but this is a model which allows us to incorporate new products from new cooperatives as the sales grow. |
| At Robiin we believe that the market model which we propose is perfectly sustainable for everyone, farmers and consumers, and that it can solve the dramatic situation the sector is currently going through. |
