Who we are at robiin.com
|
|
Hi, I´m Javi MartÃnez, creator of project Robiin. I'm 29 years old, I live in Palma de Gandia, a town close to Gandia in Valencia and I work in charge of the programming department of the Areaclick company.

My family has always been attached to the country, and although I don't currently work in the fields, it is part of me, because I keep family properties and I have that love for the land that can only be understood when you have been surrounded by it.

|
For years the situation has been unsustainable for the farmer. In this context as times goes by there are less young people who choose this sector, therefore each time there are less new ideas and less hope. The sector is bound to an imminent destruction.

The distribution of the products is monopolized by 2 or 3 chains on a European level, and they are who control and set out the guidelines of the market. The producer is demanded high quality and is rewarded with prices that don't even cover 50% of its production cost, so its not that they don't earn anything, the problem is that they don't even cover the cost of production and are losing money.

It's unfair for oranges from other countries which have a lot lower quality to be consumed, and which don't even get through the quality control of our oranges. And for everything that has been created by our fathers and grandfathers to be lost. It is a great source of income and a great source of employment for our country and specifically for the Valencian Community.

For some time I have been thinking, trying to find an idea that could contribute a real solution, also an efficient one for the sector, I think that I have finally found it, or at least I think so.

I have the support and the collaboration of all the members of the company where I work, designers, management, programmers, commercials, etc... and without them I wouldn't have ventured into such an ambitious project.

Robiin markets the oranges of the farmers that are associated at the San Miguel Cooperative, in Palma de Gandia, the cooperative of the town where I live and to which I belong. I believe that the solution to the sector occurs because for all the producers and the cooperatives (farmer association) to join forces is the only viable, sustainable and democratic solution for the sector and a way to compete with the great private companies that are monopolizing the sector. There is strength in numbers.

Take a look at the web and I hope I have known how to pass on the philosophy that I have intended to create with robiin.
